We might be getting a sequel to Heat<\/em><\/strong> and it’s expected to be based on as a novel inspired by the movie, set to be published soon. We got word from both the Heat<\/strong> director as well as the writer of the follow-up novel, that a Heat 2<\/em><\/strong> movie is definitely in the works.<\/p>\n

Director Michael Mann created an iconic duo when he brought Hollywood legends Al Pacino and Robert De Niro together for the first time in Heat<\/em><\/strong>. The film is a cult classic and people have long awaited a sequel to it.<\/p>\n

Just when people thought they’d settle for an amazing standalone film, Micheal Mann is giving us hope.<\/p>\n

Heat 2 Rumors<\/h3>\n

In 2016, Micheal Mann announced that a novel inspired by Heat<\/em><\/strong> would be published by his own ‘Harper-Collins’<\/em> publishing imprint. Mann is co-writing the book with crime author Reed Coleman.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe novel is about two-thirds written, and it\u2019s the prequel to \u2018Heat<\/em>\u2019 and it\u2019s the sequel to \u2018Heat<\/em>\u2019 rolled together.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The book is not yet published but an expected release date is set for next year. That’s why now Mann wants to make a big-screen sequel to Heat<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Story Beats<\/h3>\n

Where will the story in Heat 2<\/em><\/strong> will go from here? How much will the novel’s content be used? Turns out the novel really covers all the bases. This leaves confusion on if we’re getting a sequel or a prequel.<\/p>\n

To adapt the novel into a screenplay, of course amendments will be made. Even Mann isn’t sure if it will be a movie though.<\/p>\n

\u201cInitially a film, but the landscape is changing so radically and so quickly, who knows?\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Sequel or Prequel?<\/h3>\n

The 1995 epic Heat<\/strong><\/em> cast Pacino as a Los Angeles detective, Vincent Hanna pursuing De Niro\u2019s heist gang boss across the city is considered a classic crime thriller. DeNiro plays Neil McCauley a gangster that orchestrates armed robberies.<\/p>\n

Heat ends with one dead Neil McCauley so we don’t know how a sequel will work out. If Heat 2<\/em><\/strong> is a prequel, Mann said the book does explore a time when Neil McCauley was in prison.<\/p>\n

McCauley was in his 20s at the time. When he got out he moved to Los Angeles.<\/p>\n
