A meeting of the Standing Committee of National Assembly on law and justice was held yesterday with Riaz Fatyana in chair.\u00a0During the meeting another member of the lower house Bashir Virk questioned whether or not divorce happens if a person says \u201cTalaaq\u201d to his wife facetiously (as in a joke).<\/p>\n
The Chairman of Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) Dr Qibla Ayaz responded to the question, and said yes. He replied that even if a person uses the word ‘talaaq’ for his wife in jest, divorce will happen.<\/p>\n

Minister for Law Dr. Farogh Naseem stated that we have an example of the act of triple talaaq being punished by the state.
