An Indian woman living in the United States was raped and killed for ignoring ‘catcalls<\/em>‘.<\/p>\n

A court heard that the Indian student residing in the US was raped and killed after she ignored a man\u2019s \u2018catcalls<\/em>\u2019.<\/p>\n

According to the Cook County Court, Illinois prosecution, the murderer Donald Thurman has been charged with first-degree murder and criminal sexual assault of 19-year-old Ruth George.<\/p>\n

This is a blatant example of why male privilege and an attitude of entitlement is detrimental to the safety of other genders.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 26-year-old was arrested and charged after the body of 19-year-old, University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) student was found on November 23, 2019.<\/p>\n

Ruth was found \u201cunresponsive<\/em>\u201d in the backseat of her family\u2019s car after her family had reported her missing to UIC campus police.<\/p>\n

Killed for Ignoring<\/h3>\n

Prosecutors said that Thurman saw Ruth across the street and started catcalling her. The UIC student just ignored him and walked away. ‘Aggravated by her lack of response’ Thurman then attacked and choked Ruth. Then proceeding to allegedly rape and kill her.<\/p>\n

Surveillance cameras showed Thurman walking behind the Ruth as she entered the garage at around 1:35 am on November 23.<\/p>\n

Assistant State\u2019s Attorney James Murphy explained:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe defendant was angry that he was being ignored. The defendant came up behind the victim, grabbed her around the neck from behind, and put her into a chokehold. With his arms still wrapped around the victim\u2019s neck the defendant dragged the victim from the ground and he opened her back seat car door.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The convicted murdererThurman allegedly raped Ruth with a condom on while she was unconscious.<\/p>\n

Thurman lived near the campus. According to the authorities, he ‘gave a full confession to this horrific crime’<\/em>\u00a0after 12 hours of questioning.<\/p>\n
