The world is full of people whom we call late lateef(s)<\/em><\/strong>. Be it a wedding, a meeting or a friends hangout, there is always that one person we know who is always late. A similar incident occurred this Friday in an Indian village, where the groom arrived late to his own wedding <\/em>and ended up being replaced by another groom. Strange, right?<\/p>\n

It happened in India<\/h3>\n

According to the Times of India<\/em>, a Bijnor groom faced the wrath of the bride’s family for arriving late. The strange turn of events occurred in Nangaljat village of Bijnor, India on Friday, December 6. When the groom and his family showed up late, they were allegedly locked and beaten up by the bride’s family. It was also reported that the bride’s family ‘snatched away their valuables’.<\/p>\n

The bride then refused to marry the groom and insisted on marrying another man from her neighborhood.<\/p>\n

Apparently the couple had been married before (six weeks earlier) but had scheduled this day for proper traditional ceremonies.<\/p>\n

It was later revealed that the groom’s family were allegedly haggling them for dowry, and this in turn lead to a feud between them. In fact, they allegedly threatened the bride’s family if their demands weren’t met. The baraat, which was supposed to arrive at 2 pm on December 4, reached late at night, according to the local police, who had to intervene to secure the release of the groom\u2019s side.<\/p>\n

“Both the families have approached the police. They first fired allegations against each other. And then finally, they reached a compromise. But the bride did not want to go with the groom. There was no written complaint from either side.” the police further stated.<\/div>\n
