But the wheels of justice, spun just in time. The alarm bells did their job, alerting security to catch the ambassador.<\/p>\n<p>The Ambassador, in order to prove his innocence tried to showcase all of the purchased items on receipt. Except for the stolen book, which was wrapped up in a newspaper.<\/p>\n<h3>About the Book<\/h3>\n<p>The book he was trying to steal was a biography of 18th-century Italian adventurer, author and playboy Giacomo Casanova. The bookstore alerted the authorities, but Valero escaped charges due to this diplomatic immunity.<\/p>\n<p>The Argentine news website Infobae, proclaimed the price of the Casanova biography was literally worth chump change. It went for 189 Argentinian Peso or US $10. In retrospect, Valero\u2019s monthly salary is 234,000 pesos (US $12,160).<\/p>\n<p>The foreign affairs authorities in Mexico have issued a stern warning against the ambassador.
