India is currently in a state of ideological crisis with its Citizenship Amendment act creating rifts amongst it’s diverse and culturally rich population.<\/p>\n
The Citizenship Amendment Act seeks to grant citizenship to non-Muslims from neighboring countries.<\/p>\n
Marginalized people from different religions and backgrounds such as Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, and Christians from neighboring countries can apply for citizenship in India as per the new law. However, Muslim immigrants are excluded from the new citizenship act.<\/p>\n
The Act was passed by the Parliament of India on December 11, 2019.<\/p>\n
Since then, massive protests have taken place in India. Not just by the common man, but some Bollywood celebrities have also called out the Indian government for their unjust policies.<\/p>\n
