Whenever we think of conserving electricity to save the planet, we should perhaps look at Poland. They have created a solar-powered bicycle path, that glows in the dark. The sight of this glow in the dark bicycle path is like something from a fairy tale.<\/p>\n

This unique bicycle path leads to Wielochowskie Lake and is located in the rural town of Lidzbark Warminski. The glow in the dark bicycle path is a new addition to an existing recreational path leading to Wielochowskie Lake. Currently, only a small section of only 328 feet of the bike path glows in the dark.<\/p>\n

TPA is the European company that built this pathway. Right now they are testing its durability in winter. TPA\u2019s President Igor Ruttmar said;<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to test out this short section. See how it endures the winter and then create a plan to make it longer,\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The pathway charges throughout the day when the sun is out. At night the glow in the dark bicycle trail glows a beautiful blue color.<\/p>\n

European engineering company TPA built the bike trail. Igor explained how the path glows in the dark. This fairytale creation is possible thanks to synthetic particles called luminophores. These particles absorb solar energy and then release it by emitting light at night.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe material we used for the track gives light for over ten hours. That means the road can radiate throughout the whole night and re-accumulate light the following day.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Not only is this bicycle path helping the planet with its eco-friendly footprint, it’s also keeping pedestrians and cyclists safe.<\/p>\n

TPA’s objective is to help prevent bicycle and pedestrian accidents. they are doing that with separate paths for cyclists and pedestrians. When the pathway glows in the dark they eliminated chances of an accident because the path had poor visibility in the dark.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe hope that the glowing bicycle path will help prevent bicycle and pedestrian accidents at night,<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

While we might think nothing of it the TPA president explained such accidents were an issue in Poland, cause they cycle a lot.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a problem here in Poland, especially in the areas farther from the cities that are darker and more invisible in the night.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n
