On Friday, January 31, a young boy named Umer Farooq Bajwa lost his life after donating his liver to his mother at the Sheikh Zayed Hospital.<\/p>\n

Another Life Lost<\/h3>\n

Sarwat Sultana, the mother was struggling with a liver disease and the doctors had advised a liver transplant to save her life. Umer, who hails from Sargodha, had offered to donate his liver to his mother. However, due to the negligence of the doctors, the young student lost this life last Friday.<\/p>\n

After the surgery, it was discovered that Umer had Hepatitis E, thus he could not have been a suitable donor to his mother in the first place. However, the doctors did not diagnose his condition prior to the transplant and declared him healthy enough for the surgery.<\/div>\n

Umer’s health deteriorated after the surgery. After struggling with it for a whole week, he died on ventilator. Moreover, it has also resulted in further deterioration in his mother’s health. She now suffers from Hepatitis, which was transferred to her via her son’s liver.<\/div>\n

This is the third failed liver transplant case at Sheikh Zayed Hospital during the month of January. Apart from Umer Farooq, Riaz Hussain and Naseem Bibi also died after the doctors declared it to be a ‘successful’ surgery.<\/p>\n

The hospital has been under fire for their negligence towards patients and it is banned<\/a> from performing liver transplants in the future.<\/p>\n
