Aurat March is set to take place in various cities of Pakistan on 8th March 2020. With Women’s Day right around the corner, chauvinists have taken to social media to demean the Aurat March movement. While we respect everyone’s opinion and take on life, some people have gone a little too far.<\/p>\n

Misinformation As A Weapon<\/h3>\n

Recently, a video surfaced on the internet of a woman walking unclothed on the streets of Islamabad. Although the incident took place back in 2016, it is getting a lot of attention from yesterday. Someone on Twitter used the video of the incident with the caption<\/p>\n

Mera Jism Meri Marzi\u2019s incomplete and unofficial result has come out in Islamabad.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

We all have been through a time where we believed something on the internet without cross-checking all the facts. That’s exactly what the video has done for most people. Since being uploaded, in less than 24 hours, the video has gotten over 40,000 views.<\/p>\n

Luckily for us, the internet has all the old records to fact check, if you know where to look. This same video was originally posted around four years ago. Not only that, it has nothing to do with Aurat March.<\/p>\n

The woman in that video was someone who suffers from a psychiatric illness. The Islamabad IG gave a statement that said:<\/p>\n

Then she had fits; got lost and went on the adjacent road leading to Murree. She got herself undressed and started chasing the cars, throwing plastic cones around, hitting the cars.<\/p>\n

This can happen to anyone of us and any of our ladies with a mental disorder can go public and how would we feel about it then? Please stop sharing these clips and delete where ever received.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

We have seen a lot of cases of misusing videos and statements and taking them out of context to support a certain agenda. Please make sure you check a legitimate site before making up your mind.<\/p>\n

Also, we should also be considerate enough to please stop sharing this clip of the woman walking unclothed.<\/p>\n
