Sania Saeed is a legendary and celebrated actress and host in Pakistan. She recently sat down with an Interview with Iffat Omar where she shared her opinions on Pakistani dramas and the entertainment industry.<\/p>\n

The Manto<\/strong> actress says Pakistani dramas tend to be exploitative rather than constructive. And we happen to agree.<\/p>\n

Now we don\u2019t want to tell stories to elevate, bond and to understand rather we want to tell stories to exploit something which you already know and which you have already experienced.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The 47-year-old also added that people are familiar with the situations presented in these shows.<\/p>\n

Its like your comfort food and whenever you watch it you feel familiar. No matter how much that phase is disturbing you feel comfortable because that is something you know and you want to end it in a way according to your own expectations.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Sang e Mar Mar<\/strong> star pointed out a very crucial problem with the drama industry.<\/p>\n

You don\u2019t change it in a way to make me think that \u2018yes this can happen too\u2019 or at least I will talk about it. We don\u2019t give such options or variations<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

She believes that actors these days don’t feel the need to mingle. This is why they lack human emotions in their work.<\/p>\n

While talking about the industry as a whole, Sania said,<\/p>\n

The first thing is to stop exploiting limited knowledge of your people and engage your audience with constructive talks.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I am not saying this is not happening as I don\u2019t watch television but I do visit some things for education just to see what\u2019s happening. It\u2019s happening but there is no conscious effort however there should be conscious effort behind good work.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The\u00a0Zard Mausam\u00a0<\/strong>actress further added that the industry lacks good shows.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

For single good play or single good talk, there are 5-7 non-constructive talks so the ratio is disproportional.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Adding that the industry also lacks proper structure and technical support, she said,<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We need to organize the profession, we need unions and also structure the legal parts. We also need studios, equipment and we need a place where we can send our technical people for the training.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

 <\/p>\n

For suppose if you go on Netflix, we cant reach there because of the technical aspect. Investment in infrastructure is important or else we will stand here. We need to invest in our people and in our structures.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
