It has only been a week since the music video for \u201cQubool\u201d came out as it continues to stir controversy on social media.<\/p>\n

Due to the music video\u2019s use of the Wazir Khan Mosque, the Punjab Auqaf and Religious Affairs Department has officially banned all shooting of dramas, films, etc. in mosques and shrines.<\/p>\n

This notification came shortly after the public backlash towards Bilal Saeed and Saba Qamar came from all corners of social media. The criticism forced the singer as well as the actress to make a public apology.<\/p>\n

However, this was not enough as a lawyer, Farhat Manzoor, registered an FIR at the Akbari Police Station against the two artists. The complaint was registered on the grounds that the act of filming a music video at a mosque is offensive to our religious sentiments.<\/p>\n

Originally, the Auqaf department had made the notification that a zonal administrator or a relevant manager would be responsible for any kind of filming or shooting at a mosque or shrine. Furthermore, the shooting of a film, video, or documentary must first be consulted with the Department of Religious Affairs.<\/p>\n

Now, the Auqaf department has made it clear that no filming or shooting of drama or music video is allowed in a shrine or a mosque \u2013 especially one that features a woman.<\/p>\n

The department manages roughly 437 mosques and 544 shrines and has listed its notification last week regarding the new rules and regulations that are applicable henceforth.<\/p>\n
