And it happens everywhere, so it’s pretty normal.

But Pakistani politicians take it one step further when it comes to ‘calling out’ other people for their alleged crimes and wrongdoings. We saw how recently, politicians and even their kids were busy blaming each other as Karachi and Lahore got rains.

But it seems that more rain brought more ignorance with it. As we all witnessed another spell of monsoon rains in Pakistan, major cities like Lahore and Karachi fell victim to urban flooding.

The pictures and videos of the cities after heavy rain in the past week were in the news all over the country. Hashtags and videos related to the post-rain destruction were circulating on Twitter as well.

Chaudhry Zahoor Elahi road in Lahore’s Gulberg after today’s rain pic.twitter.com/TTMcc0DFAG

— omar r quraishi (@omar_quraishi) August 20, 2020

However, what we did not see coming was politicians sharing fake pictures of the flooding and passing them on as the current situation in ABC area.

‘Fake news’ seems so real sometimes (thanks to our biases) that we don’t take care in vetting it. However, everything has a time and that’s exactly what these politicians were missing.

Politics and lying

First, Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari shared a video of what she believes was flooding in Lahore. The problem is, the video she shared was captured in India and not in Lahore.

India is also witnessing strong monsoon rains in the past few days and the people are having problems in their day to day life because of it.
