It is a sad day for cartoon fans all around the world as the co-creator behind the iconic Scooby Doo <\/strong>series, Joe Ruby passed away at 87 years of age.<\/p>\n

The famous \u2018Mystery Gang\u2019 is beloved by people of all age groups who grew up watching the four youngsters and their talking dog as they solved spooky mysteries.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, the legendary animation writer and TV executive co-created the popular cartoon series Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?<\/strong> died in Westlake Village house in California. According to the family, Joe Ruby\u2019s death was due to natural causes.<\/p>\n

A creator par excellence<\/h3>\n

While most of us gave credit to production company Hanna-Barbera for delivering memorable kids content for years, people often fail to give recognition to the people who created these incredible cartoon characters.<\/p>\n

It was Joe Ruby, who worked alongside fellow animator Ken Spears, to bring us the Scooby-Doo <\/strong>franchise. He and Spears helped create the \u2018Scooby\u2019 universe that features the jock Freddie, the nerd Velma, the fashionista Daphne, the hippie Shaggy, and his Great Dane Scooby.<\/p>\n

The series was such a huge hit that it spawned numerous spin-offs, movies, and reboots, even as recent as 2020!<\/p>\n

Still, none of these new versions could ever capture the brilliance of the original or OG Scooby-Doo <\/strong>that first aired back in 1969.<\/p>\n

Joe Ruby is also responsible for creating other memorable series such as Jabberjaw<\/strong>, Alvin and The Chipmunk<\/strong>, Dynomutt, <\/strong>and many more.<\/p>\n

Although Ruby may be gone, his legacy will forever live on through Scooby-Doo. He is also survived by his wife, Carole and their four children as well as ten grandchildren.<\/p>\n
