Things look real grim for Balochistan as a Pakistan Television Network (PTV) talk show host Shaheena Shaheen has been murdered in a suspected honor killing.<\/p>\n
According to Al Jazeera<\/a>, officials state that Shaheena Shaheen was gunned down in her own home Turbat district of Balochistan on Saturday. What’s even more tragic is that the journalist lost her life in an honor killing. Her husband, Nawabzada Mahrab is currently a suspect in the homicide.<\/p>\n Police are currently looking for the killer who shot the female journalist.<\/p>\n ALSO READ<\/p>\n Family Murders Two Teenagers in Manshera For Wanting To Marry Each Other<\/a><\/p>\n The case’s Investigating Officer, Siraj Ahmed says they’re on the case and suspect the husband’s involvement in the homicide.<\/p>\n “We have registered a case and started a search for the killer of the female journalist.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n PTV talk show presenter, Shaheena Shaheen was also the editor of a local magazine. Six months ago she got married in a court.<\/p>\n Soon, the husband and wife started living together.<\/p>\n Police state that after Shaheena was shot she was dropped off the hospital by two men.<\/p>\n One of the men was later identified as Nawabzada Mahrab, the journalist’s husband. The men had left the PTV host at a hospital in her critical condition as doctors scrambled to save her life. Shaheena Shaheen’s uncle also pointed fingers at the husband when questioned by police.<\/p>\n The husband, Nawabzada Mahrab is currently on the lam, but police say raids were being carried out to find and arrest the him.<\/p>\n ALSO READ<\/p>\n Pakistani Journalist Killed By Husband For Not Quitting Her Job<\/a><\/p>\n If found guilty, this wouldn’t be the first instance of a female journalist being slain by her husband in an honor killing. Just recently in November journalist Arooj Iqbal’s husband killed her when she refused to quit her job.<\/p>\n Pakistan is deemed one of the most dangerous countries for journalists having ranked 145th out of 180 countries in its 2020 World Press Freedom Index<\/a>. Balochistan has an even grimmer record.
