The police has filed an interim charge sheet against the accused in the controversial suicide case of Dr. Maha Shah. The authorities presented the charges before a judicial magistrate.<\/p>\n

The police already determined that Maha\u2019s death was due to a gunshot from a 9mm pistol. Recent investigations have led to the original owner of the weapon, Saad Nasir. He was a close friend of the victim, who claimed Dr Maha Shah committed suicide due to personal disagreements at home with her father.<\/p>\n

However, new details have come forward that the accused, Saad Nasir, sold his licensed 9mm pistol to the other accused Tabish Yaseen for Rs. 55,000 on 12 July. According to the report, Tabish was the one who gave the 9mm pistol to Dr Maha Shah around a month ago. Qureshi confirmed that he had bought the weapon from Saad.<\/p>\n

On 18 September, the official investigators were allowed to further examine the body of Dr. Maha Shah after her death was declared as a suicide. The court ordered the constitution of a medical board to exhume the body and investigate the death of Dr. Maha upon pleas from the deceased\u2019s father to the Additional District and Sessions Court South.<\/p>\n

However, it is said that the police have yet not received a report about verification of Saad\u2019s license for the pistol. Tabish Qureshi is in violation of Section 24 of Sindh Arms Act while Saad, under Section 25 of the Act, the charge-sheet said, adding Section 109 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) was dropped against the accused. This PPC section stipulates punishment for abetment to an offense.<\/p>\n
