<\/p>\nA rare Indus River Dolphin was captured and killed by the local community of Nawabshah in Sindh. The incident sparked an outrage on social media as the public demands action against the perpetrators and justice for the inhumane treatment of a nearly endangered wildlife.<\/p>\n

Indus River Dolphin is a rare freshwater dolphin species found in the subcontinent. According to World Wildlife Federation (WWF), it is considered to be the second most endangered freshwater mammal.<\/p>\n
Due to the construction of irrigation systems near the Indus River, the species\u2019 numbers have declined at an alarming rate. Majority of these rare dolphins are confined to a 750-mile stretch of river or have been divided into an isolated population by six barrages.<\/p>\n
Unfortunately, the local population does not seem to care as another video of these creatures being hunted and killed went viral on social media.<\/p>\n
