Singer\/songwriter and actor Ali Zafar has offered to pay all the travel expenses for Meesha Shafi from Canada to Pakistan. This offer came after singer Meesha Shafi failed to appear in front of the Sessions Court Lahore for the defamation suit against her.<\/p>\n

One of the most talked-about controversies in recent times is the court battle between Ali Zafar and Meesha Shafi. The scandal between the two artists began after Meesha Shafi made allegations against Ali Zafar for sexual harassment. Meesha spearheaded the #MeToo movement as people applauded her for raising her voice.<\/p>\n

However, despite the claims, the singer has missed multiple court dates regarding the case between her and Ali Zafar.<\/p>\n

In retaliation, Ali Zafar filed a defamation suit against Meesha, and for encouraging a smear campaign against the newly appointed ambassador for Pakistan\u2019s first knowledge city. The two celebrities have become polarizing figures in Pakistan as people are divided in their opinion of who is guilty.<\/p>\n

Meesha Shafi is currently in Canada and has yet to appear before the court, as are her witnesses. It should be mentioned that Meesha was in Karachi during the Lahore Motorway rape case protests.<\/p>\n

In the latest hearing, Meesha\u2019s counsel, Saqib Jillani, told the court that his client is available for cross-examination via video call (Zoom). However, Umer Tariq Gill, Ali Zafar\u2019s lawyer, objected to the idea and stated no evidence can be recorded through Skype or Zoom without complying with the requirements put forth by the apex courts.<\/p>\n

Ali Zafar\u2019s lawyer went to suggest that his client is willing to pay for Meesha Shafi\u2019s travel expenses, in the hopes that she is physically present in the court.<\/p>\n

Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Yasar Hayat adjourned the hearing for 14 November and requested Meesha Shafi\u2019s lawyer to have present in court. He also directed the defendant to produce her witnesses as evidence for the next hearing.<\/p>\n
