Maya Ali <\/a>is one of the leading actresses in Pakistan’s dramatic and film scene at present. She has become an icon in showbiz, and a figure fans look up to. Being a strong female presence for the masses onscreen, she says she is tired of seeing women crying in Pakistani dramas.<\/p>\n

She made her acting debut in 2012 as Mahnoor in Hum Tv’s Durr-e-Shehwar<\/strong>. And we’ve seen her transform through various roles over the years. There is no doubt that Maya Ali has proven to be a versatile actresses in the industry,<\/p>\n

However, the\u00a0Sanam<\/strong> actress recently revealed she doesn’t understand why women are portrayed as weak and vulnerable on television. In an interview with Omair Alavi for BBC Urdu<\/a>, the 31-year-old was asked to share her stance on emotionally frail women in dramas. She said:<\/p>\n

I agree that women are victimized in Pakistani shows. I don’t think that anyone in my house is a victim. My mother, who is a role model for me, is an extremely strong woman.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The actress further added that her aunts and other women she knows are nowhere near the women portrayed by dramas. She also said:<\/p>\n

I think that the general public is filled with people who like seeing women cry. They also enjoy making them cry.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Maya also says that the public doesn’t approve of strong, independent roles for women. She further pleaded the production houses to make strong characters for actresses like her to portray onscreen and prove that a woman is not prone to vulnerability.<\/p>\n

Even if she is crying, there has to be a reason behind it. It can’t be that a woman is crying when she leaves or enters her house, without any purpose.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
