Almost two years ago it was announced that Pakistani classic dramas Dhoop Kinare <\/em><\/strong>and\u00a0Tanhaiyaan<\/strong><\/em> will be aired in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.\u00a0The Pakistan Television (PTV) dramas Dhoop Kinare<\/em><\/strong> were scheduled to be available for Saudi audiences in Arabic by June 2019.<\/p>\n

Then back in June 2020, an Arabic dubbed Dhoop Kinare<\/em><\/strong> was sent to Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, an additional PTV classic Aahat<\/strong><\/em> was also selected for dubbing. However, PTV could not finish the dubbing process for the other two dramas on time due to a lack of budget.<\/p>\n

Now Arab News<\/a> reports that ‘a number of Pakistani dramas and films have been dubbed in Arabic<\/em>‘. Many people even watched Parchi<\/em><\/strong>, the first Pakistani film to play in Saudi theaters.<\/p>\n

However, Pakistan’s Information Minister, Shibli Faraz says Islamabad wants to \u2018speed up\u2019 work on joint film and television productions for enhanced cultural cooperation with Riyadh.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe government\u2019s effort is to bring speed into this [process], and to create an institutional mechanism in which this process can go on without delay,\u201d said Shibli Faraz.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Information Minister expressed he’s banking on the cultural similarities between the two countries for the success of this joint venture.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is a lot of similarity in our cultures, so on the basis of that, we would want that we can do more joint productions in films, in dramas \u2026 This is a very powerful tool to bring two countries, two relationships, closer together.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Back in April 2019, during Fawad Chaudhry\u2019s visit to the Kingdom, an increase in cultural exchange was announced. Aside from the KSA consuming PTV classics, the Saudi Culture Minister Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan announced that Pakistan\u2019s art academies and actors would extend their support to Saudi Arabia as the country has just begun to set up new academies for performing arts.<\/p>\n
