A British pilot has the most inspiring COVID-19 recovery story. Nicholas Synnott battled the virus for the longest period and was discharged after 243 days of treatment. The 59-year-old COVID-19 patient battled against the odds for eight months, with his wife Nicola by his side every step of the way.<\/p>\n

Looks like love was what got him through it all. He told ABC 30 News;<\/p>\n

“Was able to recover with the support of my wife, and the thought of going back to my kids. It was a tough journey but, we’ve got where we are”.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Cardiologist Dr. Biswajit Kar told ABC 30 News how the pilot beat the odds.<\/p>\n

“Every organ of his body was affected by\u00a0COVID-19. But yet, because his health was so good as a pilot prior to the illness, he could sustain all this and survive something as serious as this,”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Nicholas Synnott was admitted to UT Health and Memorial Hermann Hospital in Texas where he was placed on a ventilator and heart and lung machine. After finally being discharged he headed back home to the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n

He had been released before Christmas and is back home in Betchworth, Surrey in time for the holidays.<\/p>\n

The British hugged UT Health and Memorial Hermann Hospital staff as he finally left the hospital in Houston after staying in the hospital for so long for treatment. Dr. Biswajit Kar was happy that despite falling within the demographic the Coronavirus is most fatal for, the senior citizen overcame the illness.<\/p>\n

“We were firstly overwhelmed by the joy that someone this sick could make it.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Nicholas Synnott works for British Airways and was taken ill after arriving in Houston last March.<\/p>\n
