Karachi: A 12-year-old girl was harassed by the school administration after her father was unable to pay her school fees. The seventh-grader was detained in a room alone and was even barred from taking lunch during recess.<\/p>\n
The incident took place in a private school in Nazimabad, Karachi where the 12-year-old Ubair Zohra was made to stand for three days outside the classroom as punishment over non-payment of her school fees.<\/p>\n
In another instance, the school administration deprived her of taking a lunch break by locking her in the security guard’s room. The school then locked her up alone in a room for over an hour.<\/p>\n
Speaking with the media<\/a>, the student also said that the school\u2019s administrator misbehaved with her father when he arrived there to inquire about the incident.<\/p>\n Her father, Muhammad Adil Ansari said he was unable to pay his daughter’s fees for the past seven months due to the coronavirus lockdown, which adversely impacted his livelihood. However, he had paid three months dues recently and requested the school to allow him to pay two-month fees each month to clear the remaining dues.<\/p>\n Despite agreeing to the terms, he alleged the school administration continued to harass his daughter.
