On paper Raqs e Bismil<\/em> appears to have the perfect recipe for success. Stellar actors, prolific director, top channel, and a not-so-average storyline. However, when one begins to watch it carefully, disappointment hits you really bad.<\/p>\n

Now we do know that there are many people drooling over Sarah Khan’s beauty and Imran Ashraf’s intense acting but even then the drama<\/a> fails to deliver.<\/p>\n

Why Raqs e Bismil<\/em> doesn’t click<\/h2>\n

There is just too much drama within this drama. The long, poetic dialogues and the insufferable glances. It seems that we have been teleported to the Heer Ranjha<\/em> era. Every second dialogue of Moosa aka Imran Ashraf is more of a metaphor. Characters in the drama cannot talk in normal everyday language. They have to bring the poetic love story into everything.<\/p>\n

And then there are those glances. The director has purposefully planned to waste at least 20 minutes of the drama every time on staring shots. Either it’s Sarah Khan staring endlessly with her kohl-ridden eyes or it’s Imran Ashraf or it’s Imran’s dad, the barre peer Sahab. We are just so done with those glances!<\/p>\n

Weak plotline<\/h2>\n

It’s natural for the viewers to expect the pace of the drama to go up now. Unfortunately, with Raqs e Bismil this is not the case. It is slower than before. Every character seems to be lost in a world of its own and there is no coherence.<\/p>\n

What is Zara Sheikh doing?<\/h2>\n

Then there is the character of Zara Sheikh which is horrendous, to say the least. After all these years she has totally forgotten how to act. Also, we cannot get the purpose of her character!<\/p>\n

The only good thing about the play right now is Esa and Malik Shehryar. You still want to watch these two characters when they come on screen. Otherwise, it’s just too much pain!<\/p>\n
