Regulatory authority PEMRA slapped a fine of Rs 500,000 on the show after a complaint was filed. [Video]<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Why was the show fined?<\/h2>\n<p>Santia Gulzar who is also an animal rights activist registered this complaint after which a case was pursued by Lawyer Faizullah Khan Niazi. \u201cPEMRA saw fit to accept my arguments and impose a fine on\u00a0<em>Express Entertainment<\/em>\u00a0for using animals as props for the purposes of entertainment in its show\u00a0<em>Time Out with Ahsan Khan<\/em>,\u201d wrote Niazi on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/niazi_faizullah\/status\/1387733747433365504\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/twitter.com\/niazi_faizullah\/status\/1387733747433365504<\/p>\n<p>Abuzar Khan Niazi, who is a Managing Partner at Lahore-based Crown Law Chambers also shared the judgment on social media, saying that the \u201ctreatment metted out to rabbits has been declared illegal and unconstitutional\u201d.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We filed complaint against Express Entertainment in PEMRA, Council of Complaints for using rabbits as Props in their show. Many saw this as reckless behavior and demanded swift action.<\/p>\n<p>Chairperson Child Protection and Welfare Bureau Punjab and a Spokesperson of the Punjab Government Sarah Ahmad hailed the decision, calling it a \u201clandmark judgment on animal rights\u201d.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Council of Complaints, Lahore headed by <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Pansota1?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@pansota1<\/a> passed a landmark judgment on animal rights which by all means was a case of first impression before any forum. However, after the recent decision, this cruelty will probably stop.<\/p>\n<h2>Response of Ahsan Khan<\/h2>\n<p>Ahsan responded to the allegations and said that people misperceived everything.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet me clarify. These rabbits are basically pets and the person who owns them brings them to the set. When they are on set, we make sure that they are well-fed and taken care of and are not facing any issues.&#8221;\u00a0\u201cAraam say haathon main aa jaatay hain,\u201d explained Khan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI myself am a pet lover,\u201d said Ahsan. \u201cI have dogs at home. I have cats. I also have parrots and hens and they are all like my own children. We try to provide them with comfortable environments.
