Sufism or ‘Islamic mysticism’ is deeply rooted in our culture. Over the centuries, the country has produced some great Sufis and Sufi singers and Abida Parveen is one of them.<\/p>\n
The Global Mystic Sufi Ambassador recently sat for an interview with BBC Urdu where she talked about the message of Sufism and shared some insights on how it connects humanity with God.<\/p>\n
She began the interview by singing a kalaam<\/em> and said that it offers a sense of calm and peace to her soul and helps in her spiritual awakening. It is as if your soul is in a state of ecstasy.<\/p>\n Speaking about Sufism, she said that it connects humanity with a higher power, it is a source of communication between men and God.<\/p>\n “The message of Sufism only concerns itself with God and humanity,” she says.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n <\/p>\n Abida Parveen also shares that the ethos of Sufism is equality.<\/p>\n “There isn\u2019t even a concept of man or woman in Sufism. The Sufis are a force of religion, a force of light, a force of Panjtan Pak<\/em>, from which this Sufi music is inspired… Sufism is concerned with humanity and connects everyone through a common chain of humanity. You are building a chain between yourself and God allows it to happen regardless of gender or your place in society”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n The Nishan-e-Imtiaz recipient said that she has always been fond of learning Sufism since she grew up in such an environment.<\/p>\n “The atmosphere of Sindh is the atmosphere of a shrine, so much so that the mood and vibe of Sindh is that of a Darga.<\/em>..
