Malala’s father, Ziauddin Yousafzai has responded to the criticism of his daughter’s statements about marriage. According to him, the statement has been taken ‘out of context’.<\/p>\n
Malala Yousafzai recently shared her views<\/a> on marriage and relationships and said that she still doesn’t ‘understand’ why people get married.<\/p>\n \u201cI still don\u2019t understand why people have to get married. If you want to have a person in your life, why do you have to sign marriage papers, why can\u2019t it just be a partnership?\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n The controversial statement sparked public outrage as people did not expect this from Malala. People were not just offended but her statements somewhat challenged the institution of marriage under Islamic law.<\/p>\n Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai took his concerns to Twitter and asked Malala’s father to explain his daughter’s remarks on partnership and marriage.<\/p>\n In response, Ziauddin Yousafzai said that the particular excerpt was taken ‘out of context’ and interpreted in a negative light. The media and social media have taken the excerpt of her interview out of context and shared it with malicious and negative interpretations.
