In her appearance on a\u00a0television talk show<\/a>, when asked if women are oppressed in Pakistani society Sadaf Kanwal said no.<\/p>\n “Women are not oppressed at all. Women are empowered. I personally feel empowered, and you (the host) is probably empowered too. Women are not victims (oppressed) at all. I know where Sherry’s things are. What he wants to eat and when, I should know this because I am his wife. I am a woman, Sherry shouldn’t know about me. Sherry should know but I should know more about him. I believe this because this is what I saw growing up.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n She then made jabs at feminism and patrons for equality saying;<\/p>\n “I feel feminism has set in, these people are liberals. Nowadays there are many liberals. They say that women, whatever you (the host) said. But as per me, in my thinking, feminism is that I take care of the man, my husband, respect him and do what I can.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Netizens were taken aback by the regressive statements affirming the patriarchy.
