While mom bashing has been around for ages, dads are lauded for doing the bare minimum. So when Iqra Aziz was singing Yasir Hussain’s praises for being a good father, Sharmila Faruqui said it’s no big deal.<\/p>\n

While many jumped to laud the new dad too, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) politician Sharmila Faruqi didn’t. She pointed out how while it’s not the norm for Desi men to be involved parents, caring for his child isn’t a big deal. That’s what parents should be doing.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m so glad your husband is hands on but it\u2019s nothing to be proud of or anything special, all good, involved fathers do this for their kids. My husband bathes, changes diapers, feeds and takes our son for his pre-school if I\u2019m at work or unwell. And he loves it,\u201d said Sharmila.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Sharmila Faruqui called out how men being dutiful parents shouldn’t be treated as something special. The PPP politician then shared how her husband is as equally involved as her when it comes to parenting.<\/p>\n

Raising a human child is backbreaking work. Compared to other mammals, human babies remain fully dependant on their parents for far longer than any other species.<\/p>\n
