Model and actress Sophia Mirza is facing lawsuits by ex-husband, Umar Farooq Zahoor, over accusations of defamation.<\/p>\n
As per the Norwegian-Pakistani businessman Umar Farooq Zahoor the custody battle between him and his ex-wife has affected his reputation.\u00a0The appellant sued his former wife, seeking damages of 500 million.<\/p>\n\t\t
His lawyers argue that as an Ambassador at Large for the Republic of Liberia for the regions of Middle East and South East Asia including Pakistan, the plaintiff is a well-known global businessman and has a good reputation among the international business community.<\/p>\n
The application states that the custody dispute between Umar Zahoor and Sophia Mirza began around 2007 when the Gulbashra actress handed over custody of their twin daughters after ‘receiving a colossal sum of money’.<\/p>\n
As per the appeal, the Pakistan\u2019s Supreme Court had asked the defendant to approach the United Arab Emirates courts where the local Shariah court gave full custody of the children to Umar Zahoor. The accusation is that rather than approaching the UAE courts the defendant is ‘using her connections in media to defame the plaintiff by circulating false information and defamatory material against the plaintiff’.<\/p>\n
A Lahore court has issued a notice to the model and Sussar-in-Law<\/em><\/strong> actress seeking a reply by September 7th. Umar Farooq Zahoor filed the case last month.<\/p>\n\t\t Umar Farooq Zahoor also penned a letter to the Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, demanding an investigation against the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials who ‘targeted him’ by opening inquiries against him in the cases that were already closed after action from Sophia Mirza.<\/p>\n In the letter, he said that an investigation should be launched against his ex-wife and her accomplices namely Shehzad Akbar, former Director General FIA Sanaullah Abbasi, and Ali Mardan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Model and actress Sophia Mirza is facing lawsuits by ex-husband, Umar Farooq Zahoor, over accusations of defamation.
