It’s that time of year again, when countries select a film to be their official submission for the Oscars. For the Oscars 2022, Pakistani Academy Selection Committee offered an open invite for submissions<\/p>\n
The Pakistani Academy Selection Committee invited all Pakistani filmmakers to submit their films for Oscar consideration. The film that makes the final cut will be Pakistan’s Oscar submission in the International Feature Film Award category for the 95th Academy Awards.<\/p>\n\t\t
The submission for the Oscars 2022 will mark Pakistan’s ninth submission to the Academcy Awards. Previous submissions include Zinda Bhaag<\/em><\/strong> in 2013, Dukhtar<\/em><\/strong> in 2014, MOOR<\/em><\/strong> in 2015, Mah-e-Mir<\/em><\/strong> in 2016, Saawan<\/em><\/strong> in 2017, Cake<\/em><\/strong> in 2018, Lal Kabootar<\/em><\/strong> in 2019, and Zindagi Tamasha<\/em><\/strong> in 2020.<\/p>\n Surprisingly, the movie that represents the best of Pakistani cinema has to offer at the Oscars 2020 wasn’t even released in Pakistan. The movie landed in a situation as religious groups prevented the movie’s release with nationwide protests.<\/p>\n The Pakistani Academy Selection Committee for the Oscars 2022 is chaired by two-time Academy Award and Emmy-winning filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. While the rest of the committee includes Ali Sethi [Musician], Omar Shahid Hamid [Author\/Script Writer], Rafay Mahmood [Film Critic], Samina Ahmad [Actress, Producer and Director], Jerjees Seja [TV and Film Producer], Bee Gul [Screenwriter and Director], Rizwan Beyg [Fashion Designer], Mo Azmi [Cinematographer] and Zeba Bakhtiar [Actress].<\/p>\n\t\t For entry forms, submission details and queries, filmmakers can write to pakistancommittee@gmail.com.
