Desi Twitter is reacting strongly as trans-activist Mehrub Moiz Awan AKA Shumaila Bhatti was removed from a panel of speakers at the TEDx conference.<\/p>\n
The event is scheduled to take place at the International School Lahore on August 20. While there are TEDx events organized by the educational institute, many such events are independently organized with the permission to use the brand’s name. At one such event, Dr. Mehrub Moiz Awan, a researcher, policy specialist, and comedian, was invited to speak.<\/p>\n\t\t
Based on tweets by Mehrub, she was removed due to some parents’ disapproval over having a transgender speaker.<\/p>\n
