Actress Syeda Tuba Anwar<\/a>, recently told BBC Urdu<\/a> <\/em>how the news of Noor Muqaddam\u2019s brutal murder had taken place when she was struggling, and that it resonates with her personal experiences.<\/p>\n

\u201cI particularly started speaking up because it happened in my life at a point where I was personally suffering through a tough time in my life. I could connect to Noor. I never met her, never knew her before this but I felt so deeply for her on so many levels,\u201d she remarked.<\/p>\n

The former wife of the late televangelist Aamir Liaquat Hussain has often spoken up about how violence against women in Pakistan often end up in victim blaming instead of a strong judicial support system. She has also been campaigning for awareness about Muqaddam\u2019s case, especially because she could \u201crelate\u201d to the experience.<\/p>\n

The Bharaas\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>actress also raised the issues of women’s rights, violence against women, and the growing trend of victim blaming in Pakistan in her interview.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a norm of victim blaming in our society. I don’t understand why it happens, to be honest, maybe it’s a lack of education or perhaps awareness, but I feel like it is my responsibility as a public figure to aware people of what’s happening around them,” Anwar explained.<\/p>\n

She added, “If around such sensitive topics, even if one person learns or unlearns their toxic behaviors from me, then I feel like my purpose is complete”.<\/p>\n
