Malala Yousafzai<\/a> recently attended Variety\u2019s Power of Women 2022 event in Los Angles event on 28 September, and turned heads in a gorgeous pearl white traditional outfit from WANIYA<\/strong> by Mehr Azam.<\/p>\n

The event, which was presented by Lifetime, was set to honor Ava DuVernay, Oprah Winfrey, Chelsea and Hillary Clinton, Yousafzai, and Elizabeth Olsen.<\/p>\n

Yousafzai\u00a0used\u00a0Variety\u2019<\/em>s event to highlight the need for more diversified representation in Hollywood, stating that Muslim actors only make up only one percent of popular television series leads.<\/p>\n

Abbott Elementary creator, Quinta Brunson, presented Yousafzai with her Variety<\/em> honor, and called her one of \u201cthe most influential advocates of our time\u201d.<\/p>\n

Yousafzai recently revealed the first slate of projects that her production company, Extracurricular, is working on:<\/p>\n

  1. a documentary on the historic haenyeo fisherwomen society of Jeju Island, South Korea.<\/li>\n
  2. a feature adapted from Elaine Hsieh Chou\u2019s book Disorientation.<\/em><\/li>\n
  3. \u00a0a series based on Asha Lemmie\u2019s New York Times best-selling novel, Fifty Words for Rain<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    All her films will be based on women’s empowerment, and Variety quoted Yousafzai as saying,<\/p>\n

    “What I hope to bring to the table are the voices of women of color, and debut writers and Muslim directors and writers.
