Bilal Lashari and Ammara Hikmat\u2019s uber-budget movie, The Legend of Maula Jatt<\/strong><\/em>, has ended up in another controversy after passing through legal hurdles. Following the matter of jacked-up ticket prices just before the official release, not only has its quality been criticized but it is only being shown at certain cinemas only and not at the Cinepax and Nueplex cinema chains.<\/p>\n

It was learned that an agreement between the film producer, distributor, and cinema house owners to reduce the ticket prices has not been reached yet.<\/p>\n

SAMAA Digital reported that the Chief Financial Officer of Cinepax cinemas (Pakistan\u2019s largest cinema chain), Tariq Mehboob, revealed that the negotiations with the film\u2019s distributor and producer are underway and matters will be settled soon.<\/p>\n

The Legend of<\/strong> Maula Jatt<\/strong><\/em> is currently only being screened at six theatres in Lahore \u2014 Cue, Chalo, Gulistan, Shabistan, Prince and Universal cinemas. It is also being screen at two cinemas in Gujranwala \u2013 the Opera and Prince cinemas, two in Multan \u2013 the Universal and Dreamland cinemas, two in Sialkot \u2013the Opera and Parwana cinemas, Centaurus Cineplex in Islamabad, Faisal Cinemas in Gujrat, IMGC Multiplex in Sargodha, and in Mandi Bahauddin. Besides these, it is also being shown at the Atrium Cinemas in Karachi.<\/p>\n

Overall, it\u2019s a very limited number of cinemas considering that the movie has been touted as Pakistan\u2019s movie of the decade\u2019 on social media.<\/p>\n

The Arena Cinemas in Karachi issued a statement on Instagram yesterday, apologizing for the delay and blamed it on the distributors.<\/p>\n

It read: \u201cWe apologise to our customers for the inconvenience faced due to potential increase in the ticket price of The Legend of Maula jatt. The issue is coming from the distributors of the movie\u201d.<\/p>\n

They added that they will soon have \u201cgood news\u201d after negotiations with the distributor.<\/p>\n\t\t

Commenting on the situation, actor Syed Jibran called it a \u201cdeadlock\u201d and said the distributor\u2019s demand to increase ticket prices for a larger share is \u201cvery unwise\u201d and a bad decision.<\/p>\n

He tweeted yesterday that the deadlock for the screening of the movie is between distributor Nadeem Mandviwalla and the officials of Cinepax cinemas and Nueplex, and suggested that instead of increasing the price of the ticket, it should have been reduced to Rs. 800 instead of Rs. 1,200 or more so that revenues \u201cgo through the roof\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cIncreasing the ticket price they are just decreasing the repeat customers. It\u2019s shortsightedness. Plain and simple. This will badly damage the reputation as well as a chance to create a historic box office first day score for the film,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

2\/ ticket price and percentage share between cinemas and himself is, in my opinion a very unwise and bad step. They want to increase the ticket price from 1000 to 1200 when in fact they should be reducing it to 800 and the revenues i believe will go through the roof for them. By<\/p>\n
