Indian cricketer Virat Kohli was outraged yesterday after a fan trespassed into his private hotel suite at the Crown Perth resort in Western Australia during the T20I World Cup in Perth, Australia.<\/p>\n

The unknown fan was a hotel employee who posted a viral video of him exploring the Indian batsman’s room on social media.<\/p>\n

The hotel has since fired the employee responsible for the act.<\/p>\n\t\t

I understand that fans get very happy and excited seeing their favorite players and get excited to meet them and I\u2019ve always appreciated that. But this video here is appalling and it\u2019s made me feel very paranoid about my privacy.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

He added, “If I cannot have privacy in my own hotel room, then where can I really expect any personal space at all? I\u2019m not okay with this kind of fanaticism and absolute invasion of privacy. Please respect people\u2019s privacy and not treat them as a commodity for entertainment”.<\/p>\n\t\t

Virat’s wife, Anushka Sharma, was also upset over the incident and called it “an absolute disgrace and violation of a human being”.<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Crown Perth Issues Official Statement<\/h3>\n

The Indian team was staying at the Crown Perth resort in Western Australia for its recent World Cup fixture against South Africa. The resort released an official statement yesterday, informing the public that the trespasser has been fired.<\/p>\n

Crown Perth also issued an apology to Virat Kohli and promised to ensure that there will not be a repeat of the incident.<\/p>\n

We are aware of an incident involving a contractor and the privacy of a guest at Crown Perth. The safety and privacy of our guests is our number one priority, and we are incredibly disappointed this incident has occurred. We unreservedly apologize to the guest involved and will continue to take the necessary steps to ensure this remains an isolated incident.<\/p>\n

We have zero tolerance for this behavior, and it falls well below the standards we set for our team members and contractors. Crown has taken immediate steps to rectify the issue. The individuals involved have been stood down and removed from the Crown account, and the original video was swiftly removed from the social media platform. Crown is conducting an investigation with the third-party contractor and will take any further steps necessary to ensure an incident of this nature does not happen again.
