Popular Pakistani songstress, Shae Gill, is being honored by Spotify on a giant billboard in New York City’s Times Square.<\/p>\n

Following the likes of Natasha Noorani<\/a>, Arooj Aftab, Mehak Ali, and Hadiqa Kiani, the music-streaming platform declared the Pasoori\u00a0<\/em>hit-maker a Spotify EQUAL Pakistan ambassador and the ‘Artist of the Month’ for December 2022.<\/p>\n

Spotify Pakistan broke the news on social media with a picture of the giant billboard featuring Shae Gill, with the caption:<\/p>\n

Shae Gill was one of the top five most-streamed Pakistani female artists of 2022. Spotify announced that the talented young artiste topped the list ahead of Momina Mustehsan, Abida Parveen, Aima Baig, and Naseebo Lal.<\/p>\n

Shae Gill is a graduate of Forman Christian College and began her career as a cover artist on Instagram in 2019. She has since moved on to other platforms and has found worldwide fame. Before releasing her debut original duet,\u00a0Pasoori,<\/em> with Ali Sethi, she mostly posted cover songs on Instagram.<\/p>\n

Months later, Pakistanis just cannot get enough of her soulful melodies and vocals.<\/p>\n

Since her big break on\u00a0Coke Studio <\/em><\/strong>season 14, Shae Gill has been experimenting with her music and it seems like everything she touches turns to gold. She dropped two songs this season. The first song is her version of the iconic mehndi song, Latthe di Chaadar<\/em>, for a women\u2019s clothing brand, and the second is\u00a0Sukoon<\/em><\/a> \u2014 a collaboration with the Lahore songwriter-singer duo, Hassan and Roshaan.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Spotify also filled a vacuum of needed infrastructure for rising female artistes via EQUAL Pakistan.<\/p>\n
