Netflix has reportedly received a legal notice over a “derogatory” remark made about Bollywood star Madhuri Dixit in an episode of The Big Bang Theory<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Grumpy political analyst, Mithun Vijay Kumar has asked Netflix to remove the first episode of season two, in which Kunal Nayyar’s character Raj Koothrapalli and Jim Parsons’s character Sheldon Cooper compare actors Aishwarya Rai and Madhuri Dixit.<\/p>\n

Although the episode in question aired back in 2008, but it seems Mithun\u00a0is fine with Sheldon Cooper calling Aishwarya Rai Bachchan “a poor man’s Madhuri Dixit” but is NOT okay with Rajesh Koothrapalli calling the Aaja Nachle\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>star a “leprous prostitute”.<\/p>\n\t\t

The popular sitcom\u00a0The Big Bang Theory<\/em><\/strong> ended four years ago, but it took 15 years for one Indian to notice the show making fun of their beloved Bollywood stars. Indian Political analyst Mithun Vijay Kumar tweeted his “outrage” on social media with a picture of the legal notice.<\/p>\n

He wrote,<\/p>\n

Recently, I came across an episode of the show\u00a0 The Big Bang Theory<\/strong><\/em> on Netflix where Kunal Nayyar’s character uses an offensive and derogatory term to refer to the legendary Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit. As a fan of Madhuri Dixit since childhood, I was deeply disturbed by the dialogue. I found it highly derogatory and offensive towards Indian culture and women.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

He further stated, “I asked my lawyer to send a legal notice to Netflix, requesting that they remove the episode from their platform. It’s important to hold media companies accountable for the content they distribute, and I hope that Netflix will take this matter seriously.”<\/p>\n

Neither Netflix nor Madhuri Dixit has responded to Mithun’s “groundbreaking” revelations, but it did however spawned some hilarious reactions on social media.<\/p>\n

For reference, the episode is titled “The Bad Fish Paradigm”\u00a0<\/em>and features the scene where Sheldon Cooper and Raj get into a hilariously heated argument over the two Bollywood divas. Ironically, the two are watching the music video for “Kaho Na Pyar Hai”<\/em>\u00a0 which featured neither of the two actresses in question.<\/p>\n\n
