Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Marriyum Aurangzeb on Sunday said the cinema industry income has been exempted from taxes for 10 years. The minister was addressing the high achievers of the National Amateur Film Festival Awards, who are scheduled to leave for Australia.<\/p>\n

Talking to the media in Islamabad, Marriyum Aurangzeb claimed that the film industry bounced back due to government measures.<\/p>\n

Highlighting the privileges being offered by the government to the film industry, she said the income of the film industry and imported equipment related to the production of film and drama-making have been exempted from tax.<\/p>\n\t\t

She also said that cinema owners are requested to keep the price of movie tickets down and further maintained that a better image of Pakistan can be projected through screen tourism.<\/p>\n

She said the government also announced a Film Finance Fund of Rs. 2 billion with an aim to provide grants to budding filmmakers.<\/p>\n

Marriyum Aurangzeb said several private educational institutions, including LUMS, NUST, and Iqra University, introduced film production and drama as degree courses.<\/p>\n

The minister further asked the participants that a prolific career is waiting for all of them as training in this field was also being imparted in the academies of Radio Pakistan, and Pakistan Television and Information Services Academy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
