Home Department Punjab decided to impose a ban on 18 dancers who perform obscene and vulgar acts in stage plays across Punjab.<\/p>\n

A crackdown against the theatre owners and actors\/dancers promoting vulgarity and obscenity in the name of art and culture was launched after the Information and Culture Minister Amir Mir ordered to impose a ban on them.<\/p>\n

The home department sent show-cause notices to 14 more actresses performing in commercial theatres in Lahore after serving similar notices to nine actresses on 9 August. The actresses, who were issued show-cause notices on Aug 9, did not submit their replies within seven stipulated days.<\/p>\n

On the instructions of Amir Mir, the Punjab Arts Council wrote a letter to the Home Department to take action against Shama, Tamashil, Mehfil, Naz, Sitara, and Al-Falah Theaters of Lahore and Friends and Marian Theaters of Sahiwal as their owners are the main culprits for promoting pornographic theatres.<\/p>\n

The sources in the department say commercial theatres get approval of each stage performance and script without dances but dances pop up during the stage performances that violate the permission.<\/p>\n

The actresses who were issued show-cause notices include Shama Theatre\u2019s stage actresses Mehak Butt, Komal Chaudhry, and Qismat Shahzadi; Tamaseel Theatre\u2019s Nayab Khan, Sheela Chaudhry, Ayan Akhtar, and Sonu Butt; Mehfil Theatre\u2019s Khushboo Khan; Naz Theatre\u2019s Roshani Khan, Kajal Chaudhry and Sara Khan; Alfalah Theatre\u2019s Mahnoor and Jia Butt as well as Sitara Theatre\u2019s stage actress Tabassum Khan.<\/p>\n

It was also stated that undercover teams of the Punjab Arts Council are monitoring stage plays in all theaters and severe action will be taken wherever unethical performances are found.<\/p>\n
