In a candid interview, acclaimed music artist Shiraz Uppal delved into the controversy<\/a> that ensued with singer Aima Baig, shedding light on his decision to address the lack of credit he received for composing her hit song “Funkari<\/em>.”<\/p>\n

The controversy emerged in July when Shiraz Uppal publicly called out Aima Baig for not acknowledging his contributions during an interview with a local news outlet.<\/p>\n

The ensuing discussion on the talk show Bakamal provided an opportunity for Uppal to express his frustration with the widespread trend of denying due credit to creators of hit songs.<\/p>\n

“People are experts in denying artists credit where it\u2019s due. So, for these newcomers, at least, I wanted to set a precedent,” emphasized Uppal during the interview. Addressing the specific incident with Aima Baig, Uppal clarified, “The video bite she [Aima] gave, about that song, it was written by me, composed by me, and recorded by me.” He explained that he asked Baig to review their chat to verify when they collaborated on the song.<\/p>\n

Shiraz Uppal also responded to Aima Baig’s claim that the late lyricist Shakeel Sohail co-wrote “Funkari<\/em>,” revealing that Sohail had passed away six months before the creation of the song.<\/p>\n

Expressing disappointment with Aima Baig’s insistence on Sohail’s involvement, Shiraz Uppal stated, “And that annoyed me. Does she think I would do that to a friend? How can someone come out of the grave and write for you? I had to give an answer.”<\/p>\n

Initially, Aima Baig stuck to her claim, but the controversy took a turn after online backlash, and she eventually credited Shiraz Uppal for his significant role in the creation of “Funkari<\/em>.”<\/p>\n
