The American actor, Jack Black is set to join Jason Momoa in the new live-action movie based on best-selling video game Minecraft. According to reports in Deadline, the 54-year-old actor and Tenacious D musician will play a character named Steve.<\/p>\n

Previously it was announced, that Jason Momoa is starring in the movie alongside \u201cWednesday\u2019s\u201d Emma Myers and \u201cThe Color Purple\u201d actor Danielle Brooks. Production is expected to begin imminently in New Zealand.<\/p>\n

\u201cNapoleon Dynamite\u201d filmmaker Jared Hess, who previously worked with Black on the 2006 comedy \u201cNacho Libre,\u201d is directing the project. Warner Bros. and Legendary are backing \u201cMinecraft,\u201d which is slated to open in theaters on April 4, 2025.<\/p>\n

While plot details are still to be revealed, the movie is an adaptation of the best-selling video game of all time. Minecraft, which was first released in 2009, has sold over 300 million copies and has nearly 140 million monthly active players.<\/p>\n\t\t
