Prime Video has dropped the trailer for its steamy new rom-com, The Idea of You, which is the latest piece of Harry Styles-inspired fan-fiction to be brought to life on screen. The movie premieres on May 2, but if you\u2019re too excited to wait, you can read the book that influenced the film beforehand. It is based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Robinne Lee.<\/p>\n

In the trailer Anne Hathaway portrays a 40-year-old single mom who gets to live out a teenage girl\u2019s dream: embarking on a whirlwind romance with the 24-year-old lead singer of the world\u2019s hottest boy band, played by Nicholas Galitzine.<\/p>\n

In an interview with Vogue in 2020, Lee was asked if the novel was inspired by Styles, to which she responded, \u201cInspired is a strong word.\u201d However, Lee said \u201cthe seed was planted\u201d after researching One Direction in 2017 and discovering that Styles often dated older women.<\/p>\n

She also noticed how scenes she had written would eerily play out in Styles\u2019 life. For instance, after writing a scene in which the paparazzi catch Sol\u00e9ne and Hayes in a compromising position on a yacht, similar photos of Styles and Kendall Jenner were released.<\/p>\n\t\t

Michael Showalter directs the film from a script by Jennifer Westfeldt, who will also executive produce. Other cast members include Annie Mumolo, Perry Mattfeld and Jordan Aaron Hall. Jaiden Anthony, Raymond Cham, Vik White and Dakota Adan portray the remaining August Moon members.<\/p>\n

The film is comprised of a number of Oscar winners, including Hathaway for her role as Fantine in 2013\u2019s \u201cLes Mis\u00e9rables,\u201d Mumolo for co-writing \u201cBridesmaids\u201d and Schulman for producing best picture winner \u201cCrash.\u201d<\/p>\n
