<\/p>\nThe European Union and Member States hosted a delightful afternoon at the Pakistan National Council Arts (PNCA).<\/p>\n
The EuroVillage was an expansive funfair bringing Team Europe and flavours of European culture, food, and music to Islamabad. With thousands of attendees gathering for the family entertainment, the PNCA was packed, with barely breathing room in front of each of the stalls.<\/p>\n
H.E. Dr. Riina Kionka, the Ambassador of the European Union, said, \u201cWe celebrate the diverse cultures and identities that enrich Europe, forming the foundation of our shared values and our relations with the world, including Pakistan. Together, we are stronger, and our partnership in development, trade, and political engagement reflects this commitment.\u201d<\/p>\n
The slogan of the event was “Stronger Together”, in all its connotations. As always \u2013 this being the 6th edition of the EuroVillage in the capital \u2013 each member state of the EU showcased some distinctive attribute(s) of their own heritage or culture, sharing them with the public through fun games, quizzes, bite-sized samples of the cuisine, etcetera.<\/p>\n

The EuroVillage festival was co-organised by the diplomatic missions of the European Union alongside those of Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czechia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Sweden, and Spain.<\/p>\n
H.E. Nicolas Galey, Ambassador of France, said: \u201cEurovillage is an event that celebrates Europe in its diversity, the fact that despite differences, disagreements and even conflicts that opposed them in the past, European countries have been able to unite on common principles such as democracy, on common objectives such as the single market or the will to form a political community based on tolerance, respect and humanism. These values that Europe carries are, for us Europeans, more essential than ever, given the current uncertainty on the international scene.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cEurovillage is also a popular festival, a meeting with our Pakistani friends. The French stand is happy to share iconic products with Pakistanis, such as cheese or croissants! It is also an occasion to present the opportunities for learning the French language and studying in France, opportunities that we wish to make better known in Pakistan, with the aim of always bringing our populations closer together, our youth in particular!\u201d<\/p>\n
The Austrian Embassy shared the best of Austria\u2019s rich cultural heritage, culinary delights, and innovative spirit.<\/p>\n

The Austrian pavilion created an unforgettable experience of Austrian hospitality as visitors were treated to an array of delicious Austrian delicacies, including the iconic Apfel Strudel, traditional Austrian cookies and Goulash, with a neighbouring stand creating Red Bull mocktails.<\/p>\n
H.E. Andrea Wicke, was effusive in her praise, saying: \u201cEuroVillage 2025 is an excellent platform for fostering greater cultural exchange and understanding between Pakistan and Europe. We are thrilled to share a piece of Austria with our friends here in Pakistan, from the delicious flavours of our traditional sweets to the dynamic spirit of innovation represented by Red Bull. Austria and Pakistan share a long-standing relationship, and we are proud to continue strengthening our ties through such exciting collaborations.\u201d<\/p>\n
The German embassy stall also brought a taste of German traditional food to visitors, but the highlight was the Football Wall, a popular German game where participants aimed to score through two goal holes in the wall. This activity attracted many enthusiastic youngsters, who showcased their football skills with great excitement. Young children were also encouraged to play a quiz game where participants had the chance to win German map puzzles.<\/p>\n
Poland went a different, and brilliant direction, highlighting the importance of social unity and role of women in science, business, culture, art and sports, by showing pictures of outstanding Polish women including, Maria Curie-Sk\u0142odowska (a scientist in the fields of experimental physics and physical chemistry, double Nobel Prize winner in physics and chemistry), and Wanda Rutkiewicz (one of the most outstanding world\u2019s mountaineers, the first woman who climbed K2, recipient of the Sitara-e Imtiaz).<\/p>\n
The Polish pavilion also depicted the numerous similarities that characterise the cultures of Poland and Pakistan despite the distance; common features and similar patterns that are visible in art and architecture, and shared in cuisine.<\/p>\n
H.E. Alexandra Berg von Linde, Ambassador of Sweden, said, \u201cSweden is proud to be part of this year\u2019s EuroVillage, where we bring a vibrant mix of culture, innovation, and music for visitors of all ages. Step into the world of Swedish creativity, test your knowledge about Swedish innovations, sustainability, and culture, and taste our delicious Swedish cinnamon buns!\u201d
\nShe added, \u201cWe are also celebrating 80 years of Pippi Longstocking, the strongest girl in the world \u2013 and one of Sweden\u2019s most beloved literary characters. Pippi has inspired generations with her strength and fearless spirit, and her story will be showcased during Eurovillage. And of course, no Swedish celebration is complete without music\u2014experience the magic of ABBA and other Swedish pop artists with our special tribute and interactive setup.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Kingdom of the Netherlands drew huge crowds with lively cultural displays, music, fun games, and the chance to discover popular Dutch brands in Pakistan, under the theme, \u2018Techno and Tulips\u2019. Deputy Ambassador Hajo Prov\u00f3 Kluit said, \u201cI enjoyed showcasing my country at EuroVillage today. So many young Pakistani had never realized that much of the music they listen to actually comes from the Netherlands.\u201d<\/p>\n
The event also featured live performances by both European and Pakistani artists and performers, as a celebration of culture and partnership between the member states and with Pakistan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
