Pakicetus, a goat-sized animal, lived along the banks of rivers and lakes in what is now Pakistan. While it looked nothing like the whales we know today, it had remarkable adaptations for life in water, including the ability to hear underwater. This little creature marked the beginning of one of the most extraordinary evolutionary journeys in history.<\/p>\n

Pakicetus\u2019 descendants didn\u2019t stop there. Enter Ambulocetus, a creature that lived between 50 and 48 million years ago. Ambulocetus, often called the \u201cwalking whale,\u201d was a true amphibian, equally at home on land and in water. With large, flipper-like feet and a tail built for swimming, it was a significant step toward the fully aquatic lifestyle of modern whales.<\/p>\n

Fast forward to 40-33 million years ago, and we meet Dorudon, a five-meter-long, fully aquatic whale. Dorudon had flippers, tiny hind legs, and even gave birth underwater. By this point, whales had fully transitioned to life in the ocean, leaving their land-dwelling days behind.<\/p>\n

In just 10 million years, cetaceans evolved from land-roaming creatures to marine marvels. Some, like baleen whales, developed filtering systems in their mouths, while others, like dolphins and orcas, retained their teeth.<\/p>\n\t\t
