Popular influencer Mario Nawfal conducted a rare and exclusive interview with Imran Khan\u2019s sons, Sulaiman Isa and Kasim Khan, who revealed the severe and isolating conditions their father has endured since his imprisonment nearly two years ago.<\/p>\n

According to them, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) leader, is confined in a small, 7 by 8-foot solitary cell\u2014often described as a “death cell”\u2014typically reserved for terrorists or those on death row. His cell has been kept in complete darkness for extended periods, sometimes lasting up to ten days, with electricity frequently cut off.<\/p>\n\t\t

Sulaiman Khan described the bleak conditions:<\/p>\n

He is alone in there. He\u2019s occasionally in the pitch black for prolonged periods. There was one period where he was in there for 10 days in the pitch black\u2014no electricity, no nothing.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

He added, “The first two days were beyond difficult, and then he was able to get into a kind of zen-like mentality. What ended up being 10 days, he said it could have been a year.”<\/p>\n

The family detailed how prison authorities have stopped all in-person visits from family and lawyers, and court-mandated weekly phone calls have become irregular and often cut short. Kasim Khan explained the chaotic nature of these calls: “We get a message sometimes at about 4 a.m. on any day saying, \u2018Okay, call coming at 10 am\u2019 If we\u2019re not awake, we miss it, and then we have to wait another three months.”<\/p>\n

Despite these harsh conditions, Imran Khan remains mentally resilient, focusing on reading historical and religious texts and maintaining a routine of exercise to cope with the confinement. Salman said, “He just reads loads and loads of different parts of historical literature, religious literature, and then he does exercise. Those are the two things he\u2019s always loved in life.”<\/p>\n

Their limited conversations with their father often focus on imparting wisdom and checking on family well-being rather than dwelling on his suffering. Kasim shared, “Every time we call, we only get about 20 minutes, and around that time, randomly, the line will cut off. He\u2019s so focused on imparting wisdom in the first 10 minutes and then finding out how we are in the last 10.”<\/p>\n
