The United States (US) President Donald Trump<\/a> received a grand and memorable welcome in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), capping off his whirlwind Middle East tour after stops in Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Upon landing in Abu Dhabi, Trump was greeted by UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the stunning Qasr Al Watan, the nation\u2019s Presidential Palace.<\/p>\n

The state reception was nothing short of regal, featuring ceremonial tea, an official dinner, and a lineup of high-ranking Emirati officials. But what caught every\u00a0goras’ (<\/em>white folks) eye was traditional Emirati Al-Ayyala performance, complete with the now-viral \u201chair flip\u201d dance.<\/p>\n\t\t

What Is the Al-Ayyala Dance?<\/h2>\n

Al-Ayyala is a cherished traditional performance in the UAE and Oman. It features rows of men wielding slender bamboo canes in a mock battle formation, chanting in unison. The highlight, however, is the group of young women, known as Na\u2019ashat, who rhythmically flip their long hair from side to side. This \u201chair flip\u201d isn\u2019t just for dramatic effect\u2014it\u2019s a symbol of pride, strength, and victory in Emirati culture.<\/p>\n
