Islamabad United is the most successful team in PSL history with two PSL titles in their trophy cabinet. Islamabad United has been one of the most consistent and most exciting teams in the competition’s history and are a force to be reckoned with in Pakistan’s premier T20 tournament.
Islamabad United was the team to beat in the group stages of the previous edition of PSL. The Red Hot Squad created a competition record as they registered eight wins out of ten in the group stages of the competition. Unfortunately, Shadab’s men were unable to continue their rich vein of form in the play-offs and were knocked out of the competition before the final. This time around though, Islamabad United team players will be determined to improve their performance and go all the way to lift their third PSL title. The squad is well-balanced and well-equipped to take on the challenge and will be one of the favorites for the PSL 7 title.
Islamabad United squad for PSL 2022 includes T20 specialists from across the world. United’s team includes the likes of Alex Hales, Colin Munro, Paul Stirling, Shadab Khan, Hasan Ali and Asif Ali among others. While the core of the team from the previous season has been retained in the Islamabad United players list, they have also added young talent to their ranks such as Azam Khan and Danish Aziz. Islamabad United players also include some new faces such as Marchant de Lange and Rahmanullah Gurbaz while Reece Topley has also been picked once again after the English pacer was unavailable for the previous campaign.
Islamabad will begin their campaign against Peshawar Zalmi on 30 January at National Stadium Karachi while their last group stage encounter will be against Multan Sultans on 20 February at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore. Islamabad’s two fixtures against Lahore Qalandars will be played on 5 February at Karachi and 19 February at Lahore. Islamabad United’s fixture list for PSL 7 can be viewed here.
