Karachi Kings had a disappointing outcome in the previous edition of PSL as they were knocked out from the play-offs. The star-studded squad was regarded as hot favorites prior to the start of the competition but failed to live up to their expectations with inconsistent performances throughout the competition. Karachi will be determined to make a mark in PSL 7 and go all the way in the competition this time around.
Karachi Kings barely made it to the play-offs of PSL 6 as they finished ahead of arch-rivals Lahore Qalandars on Net Run Rate. Karachi Kings squad lacked balance as the team was inconsistent throughout the tournament in the previous edition. This time around though, the squad looks well-balanced and possesses a lot of quality which will make them one of the favorites for the competition. Karachi Kings team players are regarded as some of the finest T20 players in the world and it would not be a surprise to see them in the final of PSL 2022.
Karachi Kings is filled with superstars from around the globe. They have appointed Pakistan’s star batter, Babar Azam as their new captain and have also brought in former England coach, Peter Moores, as their head coach for PSL 2022. The team includes the likes of Imad Wasim, Chris Jordan, Mohammad Nabi, Mohammad Amir and Sharjeel Khan. They have also added the likes of Tom Abell and Lewis Gregory to provide much-needed all-round depth to their team. Karachi Kings squad also includes two exciting youngsters in Qasim Akram and Faisal Akram. Both players will be looking to showcase their talent at the top-level. Karachi Kings player list also includes seasoned campaigners such as Umad Asif and Aamer Yamin who will be crucial in their team combination.
Karachi will begin their campaign against Multan Sultans in the opening match of PSL 7 on 27 January at their home ground, National Stadium Karachi. Their last group stage match will be against Quetta Gladiators on 20 February at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. Their fixtures against arch-rivals Lahore Qalandars will be played on 20 January at National Stadium Karachi and 18 February at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
