What does the scholarship provide?
A living stipend of AUD 35,656 per year (2026 full-time rate) paid fortnightly to assist with general living expenses. It does not cover tuition fees.
Who is eligible to apply for GUPRS?
To be eligible, you must:
be commencing or enrolled in an HDR program for which the scholarship is available;
hold a Bachelor degree with First Class Honors (or equivalent);
not be receiving other income that covers more than 75% of the stipend.
Can I apply more than once?
Yes, you can apply a maximum of two times in a five-year period for ranking and selection.
How are applicants assessed?
Selection is based on academic merit, quality of research experience and outputs, fit with supervision team/research environment, and alignment with university research priorities.
Can international students receive tuition support too?
International candidates awarded GUPRS may also receive a Griffith University International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (GUIPRS) to cover tuition fees.
How long does the scholarship last?
Up to two years for Master’s (Research) and three years for Doctoral programs, subject to satisfactory progress.
