WorldCall Signs a Contract to Acquire 250,000 WiFi-Enabled HD TV Boxes

WorldCall has signed a contract with two leading vendors, ABV International and Gospell Digital Technology Co. Ltd., for the supply of 250,000 digital boxes.

With these new digital boxes, WorldCall is now fully enabled to provide next-generation digital services, targeting additional screens through WiFi connectivity provisioned on select digital setup boxes connected to its own and partner cable networks. It should allow for additional advertisement opportunities besides enhanced customer experience.

Speaking on the subject Azhar Saeed, CFO WorldCall, highlighted the need for cultivating two leading vendors to ensure that the supply of digital boxes is kept abreast with the demand during the expansion of WorldCall digital services across Pakistan. It further gives WorldCall a tactical advantage with an earlier than expected service availability.

Users will be able to view over 120 channels using the HD digital boxes.

Gospell Digital Technology Co Ltd (GOSPELL). is a private hi-tech enterprise with R&D, manufacturing, business consultancy and planning, trade, delivery, project implementation and after-sales service, acting as a complete DTV and triple-play solution provider for Digital TV/OTT related projects.

The boxes are said to cost Rs 4000 while a quarterly subscription will cost Rs 500 (3 months).

With a digital channel list of 200+ HD and SD digital channels, WorldCall remains at major player in the infotainment industry in Pakistan. With the current pace of digital enablement by WorldCall, digital services will be available to nearly 40% of cable households across Pakistan by the end of the year.

WorldCall’s script at the bourse was trading at Rs 2.45, up by +4.26% with a turnover of 5.06 million shares.
