The summer heat is upon us, although it might occasionally rain here and there but the showers are few and random.
Long power outages and loadshedding is common in the season, naturally most people look for power solutions or if they can’t afford one (in most cases) they look for other ways to cool themselves down, especially in Ramadan.
Some head towards water parks and canals, for an easy and cheap solution, but they can’t take towards canals and water parks every day.
Here is where this home cooling solution comes in.
In a small village in rural Bangladesh, temperatures rise above 45 degrees celsius in summers, a usual occurrence here in Pakistan as well. There is no electricity available in the village, so they have to devise their own methods for avoiding heat.
Grameen Intel Social Business Ltd. have provided a simple low cost solution for the people in the village which is easily implementable in Pakistan as well.
Using basic science, they use repurposed water bottles to compress the hot air, which cools it in the process.
They install several bottles in a small plastic panel, only allowing air from the bottlenecks to go through.
Called “Eco-Cooler” it reduces the temperature of the incoming air, decreasing the temperature inside by almost 10 degrees, making the heat bearable.
As mentioned earlier, high temperatures are a common occurrence in summer in Pakistan. Power outtages also increase, which prompts people to look for a non electric resolution to the heat problem.
The Eco-Cooler will help solve this problem. The materials don’t cost much and the construction and installation of this contraption is something that can be easily done.
This solution should be implemented on a wide scale by the government, they can also encourage NGO’s to help out for additional reach. It would add something of merit to the already stained record of the present government.
